In 2011 I spent time on Sacred Land near Kata Tjuta (Northern Territory) with First Nation's ladies. We were living on the land, sleeping in swags, no bathroom facilities just a little shovel, and nothing in sight.
There were around 40 ladies coming from multicultural Australia and from overseas, we were meeting with about 20 aborigines, learning from them Sacred Dance Ceremonies and in exchange they would receive what we had to offer, food, massages, energy healing and of course the so much needed money to provide for their community.
It was 5 days of doing a lot of nothing, waiting for the ladies to invite us to dance. We would strip down to wearing only a black skirt and having our face and chest painted and we would be taught the moves and signification of the dances.
It was then that for the first time I really fell in love with the beauty of women. Ours bodies are so amazingly different, the variety of shape, size and proportion is mind boggling.
This trip is one of the most grounding and healing I have experienced. It says a lot about just being. Aboriginal healing is so powerful.
After the 5 days we had one day in Alice Springs and this is when I met Frank Ansell. He is a traditional indigenous healer (nungkari) and a lawman from the Eastern Arrernte desert country in Central Australia. With him I received nungkari aboriginal healings and some of his wisdom teachings from aboriginal dreamtime. In 2012, I spent a week with him. This is when I clearly understood the process of healing. Frank says to repeat every day, 3 times, the following sentence:
"Heal my Mind, Heal my Body, Heal my Spirit, Heal my Soul"
So the mind is in charge, the body only responds to what the mind believes and the mind believes what it is fed in the early years of life. From utero to the first 7 years, the mind is like a sponge absorbing everything without challenging anything. We take it all in! The good and the bad, the thoughts and habits of our family, culture, religion and educational systems. And from that we build our personality most often based on having to fend and protect ourselves from the "dangers of life". Many of us are being born in a disconnected, medicalised environment, and this has a profound effect on our autonomic nervous system. We learn to hold our breath, the equivalent of disappearing, in order to survIve. VOL 3, ISSUE 48 sep/nov 2014 The Art of Healing
The Healing of the Mind is the healing of the unconscious mind with the transformation of the belief systems put in place at a young age in order to protect ourselves from pain and suffering. It is the healing of our unconscious guilt, of our over active nervous system and it's the first step to boost our immune system. The healing of the mind is the healing that is best done with a therapist.
The nervous system responds well when we simplify our life and actions and when we can understand and accept one's limitations. Learning to relax, to ground in nature, to self care and to listen to what our bodies are telling us. The body is where the limiting beliefs are being expressed.
To encourage the Healing of the Body, simple lifestyle changes can be put in place. Eating fresh unaltered food, creating a nurturing uncluttered living space, devoting more time to rest and sleep and helping the body's healing capacity with nutritional supplements.
The Healing of the Spirit as I understand it is the healing of the Inner Child. Leaning to forgive, to be compassionate, to see into the heart of others is so freeing. One cannot live a creative life without the transformation of past hurts. No one, nothing can get to you when you know how to forgive, this is true freedom indeed.
The Healing of the Soul is Love. Being able to love and accept self and others. To feel that the universe has your back, that you are safe and in charge because you are able to Love whatever happens to you.
Love increases your vibration and nothing resists! It creates being in the right place at the right time and one can live a serendipitous life full of miracles!
